So I'm finally off to the Sahara! Considering how long this race has taken to prepare for, the final months have flown by. Preperation has gone as well as i could have hoped and I am going out there as prepared as I could be and totally confident that I'll finish. The only thing I couldn't prepare for is the weather so I'm hoping for a chilly week in the desert!
I fly out tomorrow (Thursday 26th) and spend the first night in the hotel before we get driven deep into the desert to spend two days completing the medical and kit checks before we go self sufficient on Saturday night with the race starting on Sunday through til Saturday.
From Sunday the daily results will be published at www.darbaroud.com and this is also where you can email me which I hope you can take the time to do as the organisers print the emails off and deliver them to our tents at the end of each day so it will be a real boost to hear from you. I'm unsure on the definite way of doing this but I'm sure it will become clear when it goes live on the Sunday (don't forget to translate the home page by clicking the Union Jack in the top right corner!) You will need my race number which is 611.
I'd like to say a sincere thank you to everyone that has followed this event so far and for the incredible amount of money which we have raised for Mencap, currently £9525.00.
OK, just the easy bit to do now so I'll be back in a couple of weeks with what's left of my feet and a medal!
